Chris Cantell Discusses Innovation: On the Web in the air
by Natalia Holvova
Flying is becoming very popular and common way of transportation. As the number of passengers is growing, there is also bigger competition between different airline companies. Flying companies want to get as many travelers for themselves as possible and so they need to bring always new and attractive services. The latest offer is in-flight Internet access while traveling above north American continent.Researchers still have long way to bug free connection but firs Web surfers will have the opportunity to get online in the beginning of the next year. Of course first Internet connection will be little bit slow and can remind us an old-fashioned dial-up system, but there are beliefs that technical progress will go faster than in the past and in few years we will be able to fly fully connected during whole trip.Comfort of this new project is irreplaceable! Being connected with the ground while the time we need to spend traveling will bring great time use as well as wider entertainment opportunity, messaging and calls making including. The only issue seems to be using skype and such voice messengers which could possibly disturb our travelmates. Only practical experience will help the cabin crew to set the rules and limitations while in-flight surfing. The project will be carried out in the north America first and than we can hope for spreading new technology into the other parts of the world. Soon we do not even realize that we are spending hours in the air busy by online chatting.
